Amaris Hunt & Manning Shareef hit 1K career points for MSL
This month, Manning Shareef (pictured left) and Amaris Hunt (pictured right) – the senior stars spearheading MSL’s push towards the top of the standings in the Milwaukee City Conference Blue Division – both surpassed 1,000 career points. Both players were honored after MSL’s 54-52 home win over Whitefish Bay on Tuesday, Jan. 14.
Hunt and Shareef have been critical pieces of the MSL program as the Hawks have climbed from three combined conference wins in 2021-22 and 2022-23 to four conference wins last year and then a 4-1 start in conference play this season. Hunt was named to the third team all-conference in the MCC Blue Division as a sophomore and the first team all-conference in the MCC Blue Division as a junior. Shareef was an honorable mention as a freshman, and then joined Hunt on the first team as a junior.
In addition to the Hawks’ hot start in the MCC Blue Division, they also tacked on four impressive non-conference wins this year, featuring victories over Saint Francis, Brown Deer, Chicago Bowen, and the aforementioned Whitefish Bay.
MSL’s lone conference loss was a narrow 80-79 defeat at home to South Division, the current league leader. MSL will still have a chance to pull even with the Cardinals in the standings when the Hawks travel to South Division on the final day of the regular season.
