Darryl Cooks Jr. (Bay View High School) and Breon Billups (Rufus King High School) were named the Milwaukee City Conference Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of Dec. 29 – Jan. 4.

On Friday, Jan. 3, Cooks Jr. pushed the Redcats to their seventh win in eight games to open the season, posting 27 points (5-9 three-point shooting), seven rebounds, and six assists in a win over Milwaukee High School of the Arts. For the season, Cooks Jr. is averaging 25.5 points per game.

Bay View has already lapped their 2023-24 win total, when it won just two games on the season. The Redcats will travel to Kenosha St. Joseph on Tuesday, Jan. 7, before returning home to play Obama on Wednesday, Jan. 8. Purchase digital tickets to the Bay View-Obama game here.

Rufus King notched two wins last week (Dr. Howard Fuller Collegiate Academy and Bradley Tech), highlighted by Billups’ 21 points on the road against the Trojans. Those 21 points marked a season-high for Billups, who is averaging 11 points per game against MCC Gold Division opponents.

The Generals, currently in the midst of a four-game winning streak, travel to Vincent on Wednesday, Jan. 8 and host Carmen Northwest on Friday, Jan. 10. Purchase digital tickets for both games here.
