Golda Meir's Woods & Reagan's Kanarek Named MCC Student-Athletes of the Week (Dec. 30)
Quinn Kanarek (Reagan High School) and Ahmir Woods (Golda Meir School) were named the Milwaukee City Conference Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of Dec. 22-28.
A variety of Milwaukee City Conference boys basketball teams competed in holiday tournaments and invitationals last week, including Reagan (the Rick Majerus Wisconsin Basketball Yearbook Shootout) and Golda Meir (the Kohler Holiday Tournament).
Kanarek led the charge for the Huskies, averaging 15.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 4.5 assists on 50 percent shooting in two contests against Martin Luther and Living Lutheran. Last week’s stat-sheet stuffing performance merely continues a trend of strong play for Kanarek. After averaging less than 4 points per game during Reagan’s first three games of the year, he has tallied 13.0 points per night on 48 percent shooting in the six games since.
Woods, a two-time all-conference honoree in the MCC Blue Division, averaged 25.0 points in Golda Meir’s two games against Little Chute and Milwaukee HS of the Arts last week.
