Milwaukee Public Schools celebrates renovated pool at South Division High School
Milwaukee Public Schools is excited to announce the unveiling of the revitalized pool at South Division High School!
This project was made possible through the federal Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) fund, which was established to support school districts in safely reopening, maintaining operations, and addressing the impact of COVID-19 on students’ social and emotional well-being.
The renovation reflects the voices of our students, staff, and community, who prioritized upgrades to athletic facilities as part of the ESSER funding initiative. The newly renovated pool will enhance physical education programming and serve as a venue for Milwaukee City Conference athletic competitions and team practices.
Key upgrades include modern bleachers for the pool and observation decks, improved lighting, vibrant school branding, a state-of-the-art scoreboard display and timing system, a refreshed interior, and essential mechanical system upgrades. Additionally, the pool now boasts new starting blocks, diving boards, lane dividers, and an ADA lift, ensuring accessibility for all.
Thanks to ESSER funds, the district also updated and reopened the South Division High School fieldhouse during the 2023-24 school year. Stay tuned for further announcements involving additional renovations of MPS fieldhouses, stadiums, pools, gym floors, and tennis courts—all aimed at providing Milwaukee Public Schools students with top-notch facilities where they can excel and compete with pride!
