Milwaukee Public Schools celebrates renovated tennis courts throughout district
Milwaukee Public Schools is excited to announce the unveiling of renovated tennis courts at several high schools throughout the district, including Hamilton High School, Marshall High School, Milwaukee High School of the Arts, Milwaukee School of Languagues, North Division High School, Rufus King High School, and Vincent High School.
This project was made possible through the federal Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) fund, which was established to support school districts in safely reopening, maintaining operations, and addressing the impact of COVID-19 on students’ social and emotional well-being.
The renovation reflects the voices of our students, staff, and community, who prioritized upgrades to athletic facilities as part of the ESSER funding initiative. The newly renovated tennis courts will enhance physical education programming and serve as a venue for Milwaukee City Conference athletic competitions and team practices.
Key upgrades at each tennis court include a new surface, repainted court game lines, branded wind screens, tennis backboards, and new posts and nets.
Thanks to ESSER funds, the district also updated and reopened the South Division High School fieldhouse and the South Division High School pool during the past year. Stay tuned for further announcements involving additional renovations of MPS fieldhouses, stadiums, pools, and gym floors—all aimed at providing Milwaukee Public Schools students with top-notch facilities where they can excel and compete with pride!
