MSL's Shareef & Reagan's Vanderbilt Named MCC Student-Athletes of the Week (Jan. 13)

Manning Shareef (Milwaukee School of Languages) and Mark Vanderbilt (Reagan High School) were named the Milwaukee City Conference Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of Jan. 5-11.

Shareef dominated the paint in the Hawks’ 66-46 win over Vincent on Monday, Jan. 6, totaling 33 points on 15-27 shooting. He also added 22 rebounds and 2 blocks. For the season, Shareef is averaging 19.9 points and 13.7 rebounds per game.

On Saturday, Jan. 11, Reagan hosted the annual boys swim Husky Invite, bringing five MCC swim programs (Hamilton, Rufus King, Riverside, Pulaski and Reagan) together with seven other area non-conference opponents. Mark Vanderbilt starred in the pool for Reagan, taking first-place honors in the 100-yard freestyle (50.93) and the 200-yard freestyle (1:54.47). Vanderbilt also swam the opening leg for Reagan in the 200-yard medley and 400-yard freestyle relays, both third-place finishes for the Huskies.
